A Fresh Amex Offer Just Landed for Fairmont, Raffles, and Sofitel Stays Here's How to Cash In

A Fresh Amex Offer Just Landed for Fairmont, Raffles, and Sofitel Stays Here's How to Cash In

In the event that an individual has a trip planned to one of the high end properties by Accor, then it may be wise to check his/her American Express account prior to booking a stay. A new targeted promo has appeared in the Amex Offers portal, and it's one of those that can easily save you money on a stay at the top of the luxury hotel pile without you needing to pick up much more than a finger to sign up.

If you're not familiar, Amex Offers refers to the credit card issuer's revolving bank of statement credits and bonuses from individual merchants. It can be the occasional $10s at a coffee shop. Other times, however, it's a good discount at the type of hotels that people save for, such as now. This specific deal is definitely in the second category.

The content of the Offer

The promotion is limited to a select few of Accor's top brands: Fairmont, Raffles, Sofitel, SLS and Legend. Yes, these are features that deliver quality grand lobbies, attentive service and price tags that are just as good.

It's as simple as this: If you spend $500 or more in one transaction or multiple transactions at one of the 25 hotel partners, you'll receive $100 back as a statement credit. That gives a 20% return on the money spent which is a much better offer than most retail offers you'll see in your Amex account. This offer is targeted, which is the rub and the thing. Not all of the cardholders will see it, so it is best to log into the account directly than to simply assume it's available.

This is a fairly long time window. The payment must be made between August 3 and November 2, 2026, leaving ample time for most travelers to book new trips or ensure they are able to travel during this window.

It can be used anywhere

This is not applicable at each of the Fairs and Sofits located on the map. Amex has a list of qualifying hotels, which includes hotels in the Americas and a selected list of international hotels. This may seem like good news for trips of course, but before you become excited about adding this to your travel plans check that property list first, as it varies greatly from region to region.

The one thing that people tend to overlook: The offer only applies to those who book directly with Accor rather than through a third party travel site. However, using Accor Preferred (the hotel's own preferred booking platform) should still qualify you to pay a “rack rate” so it is not a strict rule that you have to pay rack rate in order to qualify.

What Counts (and What Doesn't)?

Not all of the money that you spend at the hotel will count toward that $500 goal. The offer is quite specific with what is acceptable, so it is best to be familiar with those rules before signing up:

  • The cost of your room and any applicable tax and/or fees will normally be considered part of your qualifying spend.
  • Charges for spa use, golf, restaurant and dining and other amenities on property do not count
  • Items bought at the Fairmont Store or the Raffles Boutique or other Fairmont retail stores are not included.
  • Unfortunately, weddings, events, residences and Emblems Collection-style registries are not eligible for stays.

Basically, this is the same room rate, but marketed as a hotel discount. If you are traveling on top of your nightly cost, such as using the spa or booking an event, you may not end up spending more than $500, so plan accordingly.

Another housekeeping tip: you will have to sign up for the offer before you arrive. It will not take effect on an "afterthought" basis, so don't book first, read the fine print later.

A Smart Way to Double Your Rewards Even Further

It can cost a lot to stay in a luxury hotel, so it's important to consider what card you're swiping when you check in. Unfortunately, the vast majority of amex cards don't have amazing hotel multipliers. The Amex Green Card offered a great rate of 3x points on travel, but has been unavailable to new cardholders.

This is one trick that many travelers don't know about: when you check out, hotels will almost always allow you to pay on several different bills, even though they're all for the same bill. This is good because you won't have to sacrifice the Amex Offers discount for the highest rewards rate. Rather, you can load in exactly $500 (or whatever amount equals the full $100 credit) on the card that has the offer, and then transfer the balance to another card that offers a better return on travel expenses.

This nifty little financial maneuver will allow you to receive two rather than one. You receive the flat amount credit from Amex Offers and continue to earn points or cash back at the highest rate offered. It just takes another minute at the front desk, but it's well worth it on a bill that might easily go into the thousands at a place such as Raffles or Sofitel.

Bottom Line

If you've got a stay coming up at Fairmont, Raffles, Sofitel, SLS, or one of Accor's Legend properties, it's worth a quick check of your Amex Offers dashboard before you finalize payment. Spending $500 or more to snag a $100 statement credit is a solid discount by any measure, and pairing it with a smart payment-splitting strategy means you don't have to sacrifice your usual rewards earnings to take advantage of it.

Just remember to register ahead of time, confirm your hotel is on the eligible property list, and keep your spending focused on the room rate itself rather than add-ons that won't count toward the threshold. For travelers with a luxury stay already on the books, this is about as close to free money as hotel promotions get.
