Chase is Offering up to 10% Back at Marriott Hotels How to Maximize that Benefit

Chase is Offering up to 10% Back at Marriott Hotels How to Maximize that Benefit

Chase Offers aren't always as romantic as their counterparts from American Express, but if it comes up for a targeted discount on something you already planned to spend money on, then a few minutes to “save” might not be a bad idea. For now, Chase credit card holders can earn 10% cash back up to $50 for booking hotel stays at Marriott Bonvoy properties in the U.S.

If you have any short-term travel plans in the U.S. and you need to stay at a Marriott hotel, you will only spend under two minutes to check your Chase account today, and may save a significant amount on a booking that you'll be making regardless.

The Specific Items that are Covered by the Offer

The structure is clean: If you spend $100 or more on an eligible Marriott Bonvoy stay in the U.S., you will get 10% back as a statement credit up to $50. That max will go into effect at $500 in eligible spending, meaning that if you were to spend $500 on one stay, you would get back 100% of those $50.

Before booking there are some important parameters to know:

  • This offer is only valid for U.S. properties, including those booked online.
  • Direct booking required: A direct booking must be made directly via Marriott; third party online travel agents (OTA) such as Expedia or Hotels.com will not count.
  • Valid for a minimum of 100 USD or more, depending on the minimum spend at checkout after tax and any discounts are applied.
  • Offer expiration: August 31, 2026 stay dates to be prepaid by August 31, 2026, but travel dates may be later.
  • This Chase Offer is one-use only, as opposed to some Amex Offers that have multiple qualifying transactions.

The one-use structure is the most important detail that affects when you should use the offer this is the strategic point.

Use a Single-Use Chase Offer The Right Way

The deployment of the offer matters, as Chase Offers are likely to be applied only to a single transaction and not to a series of transactions. If you are booking multiple times in Marriott properties, such as a $150 and a $400 booking, then you will be losing out on the cash back offer that you can get for the $150 hotel. The 10% return on $150 is $15; the 10% return on $400 gets you $40. Both remain within the $50 limit, so the better bet is to time the offer for the higher expenditure.

If you have a stay to come and it is going to cost you a thousand dollars or more, that's the cleanest deployment: One transaction, maximum $50 return, done. If you have just one Marriott hotel booked in your calendar between now and Aug. 31, the choice is easy book the hotel using the offer and you'll get back whatever percentage you can get off the entire package.

Patience is the main habit required to do this. Do not automatically add it to your card and use it the first time it is eligible. Make a note of the offer in your planning, include the date it's valid until and set it out when you're most likely to get a return from it.

If You're Not Sure, How Can You Know If You're a Target?

It's a targeted offer that is, not all Chase cardholders will get it, and even those who are targeted may not have each card in the wallet with the offer. The steps to checking are simple: Sign in to Chase's online account or the Chase mobile app, go to the Chase Offers portion of each card in your account, and browse through the offers provided.

The offers are different per card and not account-wide, so the same cardholder may receive the Marriott offer on their Chase Sapphire Reserve card, but not their Freedom Unlimited. Only by examining each card individually will one be able to determine which cards are targeted.

After you locate the offer on an eligible card, add it to that card before you make any Marriott purchase this offer can only be applied to purchases and must be added to the card before they are made to get credit; this offers cannot be added retroactively.

This With Other Marriott Value

One of the liabilities of a cash-back deal like this is that you can combine it with the other means you're earning value for a Marriott vacation. For those using a card that provides strong rewards for their hotel spending, like as the Chase Offer cash back or a co-branded Marriott card getting elevated points for Bonvoy, you can reap both rewards and the offer.

There's no pause on earning your Chase Offer rebate while you're staying in the Chase Hotel Collection, but you'll also accumulate Marriott Bonvoy points during that time which in turn will help you build up your loyalty balance or your elite night count. The cash back is not deducted from or used to cancel out the points you accrue, but it's just an extra return on the purchase that was already providing points value.

Does This Make a Difference?

For those already booking flights to the United States for a Marriott hotel stay prior to August 31, the answer is a simple one: Yes, definitely, if the offer is there, add the offer to your account and save the money without taking any other action.

This offer might not be enough for you to book a stay, if you don't have one on the calendar, unless you're looking to book it just for the cash back. The most important amount of money saved is $50, but $50 is not enough to justify making a hotel stay up. But the greatest value from any targeted offer is when it is used to secure value on the spending that was already planned, not to incentivize spending in order to receive a rebate.

But, if you were once considering a hotel stay at a different property on your next trip, this might be the deciding factor to make Marriott your choice especially when the cost and quality of the hotel you were considering competing with Marriott were even.

The Bottom Line

Chase is offering a targeted Chase Offer that is available to select cardholders and offers them 10% cash back on hotel stays of $100 or more at U.S. properties with Marriott Bonvoy, capped at $50 back per cardholder. This is an offer that is available directly with Marriott, not through any third party, and will run until August 31, 2026.

This is because Chase Offers are only good for one use per offer strategically, it is better to wait until the biggest upcoming Marriott booking to deploy the offer, rather than just the first one that qualifies. Use the Chase website or mobile app to check each card in your wallet one by one, activate the offer if it's available and apply it to the booking that provides the highest cash back.
