If you've been priced out of the fantastic opportunity to visit Walt Disney World, you'll understand the amount of money the resort room costs a lot before you even purchase a churro. However, if you have a Disney Visa Credit Card in your wallet, the discount may be something new to consider for this year's trip to 2027 and depending on where you stay, it could save hundreds of dollars on your final bill.

Now, Disney Visa cardholders will be able to save up to 30% on select rooms at Walt Disney World Resort when traveling between January 3 April 29, 2027. The amount of savings you will make will depend on two factors: the resort level you book and the timing of your trip in that time frame. There's also a pleasant reward for those who are looking for a longer winter break, which we'll be talking about below.

The Basics Who Can Qualify And How Much You Will Pay

This is the part that gets people confused: They must pay for the room with the Disney Visa card to take advantage of this discount. Even if you are a cardholder, it will not suffice to book with another card.

Before you place all your trust and hopes in a particular resort, there are a couple of guidelines that you should be aware of:

• This is not a walk up/reservation last minute rate, it is a reservation that must be booked in advance.
• Your savings will be based on the room category that you are staying in and will be based on the normal, non-discount rate for the room category.
• This offer is not available with any other discount, offer or promotion Disney has at that time.
• Rooms are restricted and limited in number, availability can and will be available at popular resorts but may run out of supply during busy weeks.

As there is limited capacity the idea is to book dates as early as possible if you already have a mind made up about which resort you're going to.

Using The Resort Tier to Break Down The Discount

The travel window lasts for almost 4 months but actually consists of 2 separate discount periods and the savings pick up significantly towards the end of the window.

The discount is good from January 3 to Feb. 27, 2027 for Sunday-Thursday nights, and there's a bonus: the weekend nights for stays of five nights or longer are discounted as well. If you miss the five-night minimum, you won't get weekend nights.No minimum stays, and discounts increase across the board, from February 28th to April 29th, 2027.

The following breakdown of numbers, by resort type:

• Choose Deluxe & Deluxe Villa Resorts with prices up to 25% off from January to February and up to 30% off over late February through late April.
• Choose Moderate Resorts, which will be discounted by 20% for the first part of the promotion and 25% for the second.
• Choose Value Resorts which cut up to 15% off from the start, rising to 20% off at the late-February limit.

If your idea of a better time of year is a better price, then don't worry about which days of the week you'll be there, and it's not just that you'll get better weather; you'll get a better price too if it's flexible.

What's Not Included

It should be noted that there are a few popular rooms that do not appear on any of the exclusions lists, and so before designing a whole trip around a particular room, it's best to double check the lists. Disney's Pop Century Resort is not included, and neither are The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa or The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. Campsites also won't be available and neither will be the cabins at Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney's Wilderness Lodge.

All bungalows and the one and two bedroom villas and penthouses at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows are also not included. This is a fairly narrow list but for the most part it is the bigger and better facilities, and standard rooms at a suitable resort may be fair game.

How To Get The Discount Right

You can obtain this deal in two ways. Book it online via the Disney Rewards portal, or call 800-934-7639 and reference the name of the offer in conversation with a cast member. Either way is good, but keep in mind that your Disney Visa card must be registered as the payment method in order to be eligible for the discount.

If you have been adding up Disney Rewards Dollars from your regular purchases with the card, it is a perfect time to use them. Those dollars can be used to pay for room, in addition to the percentage off, and the entire trip will be of even better value !The dollars can be applied to the room portion of the trip, on top of the percentage discount, and the entire trip will be even more affordable.

Why Staying on Property is still a good idea

While it's a good deal, keep in mind what you're really getting in exchange for the discount when booking within the Walt Disney World Resort bubble. Extended hours in the parks beyond regular operations are common along with earlier access for on-property guests to share in bookings ahead of the general public, as well. Add to them free resort transportation monorails, the Skyliner gondolas, boats and buses and themed rooms, character dining, optional dining plans and rooms that can easily accommodate your family of five or more when it's time to be pampered.

Disney Signature Services also applies to those who book rooms or suites at Club level, providing more personalized assistance to plan your vacation. Interestingly, some of these same benefits are available for stays at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort, Disney Springs Resort Area Hotels, the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek and the Waldorf Astoria Orlando.

The Bottom Line

This is the type of deal you should take into account if you're already thinking about a Walt Disney World trip in 2027. The savings peak at 30% for resorts with Deluxe and Deluxe Villa packages from late February to April, and for longer stays in January and February (five nights or more), weekend nights are even discounted.

But do make sure to look over the list of exclusions first before you get swept up in a particular room type, and make sure to book soon. Remember, when inventory is capacity controlled, the best rooms at the best resorts sell out quickly.
