Mykonos has always been a high end holiday destination. The island is a target for American tourists, one of the most expensive hotel rates in all of Europe, and has earned a reputation for glamour that is far exceeded by the number of the island's truly world class properties. The lack of the major international luxury hotel brand with a substantial presence on the island has been a small dark secret for years, a gap that seems to have been swimming around and wondering, “what took you so long?”
That's about to change. It is officially available to book now, and guests can check in starting on 26th June 2026 at the Four Seasons Resort Mykonos. With the brand announcing the expansion to the Greek island in late 2024, there are now some details that have come into focus and for those who've been paying close to the boot, it's a property worth understanding before rates begin to rise even more in the peak summer months.
The Four Seasons Resort Mykonos is located on the shores of Kalo Livadi Bay, one of the less touristy parts of the island with access to the coast. The resort covers about 649,000 square feet of space and while it may be a large per room or per villa/suite figure, it's far from generous given it's only 94 rooms at the resort.

Features include the infinity pool with views of the Aegean, a multiple treatment room spa and training facilities. The food and beverage program includes three separate venues: the Italian restaurant on the poolside, the beach restaurant and a modern version of the traditional Greek café, or “kafeneio” as it is called, a social hub of village life in Mykonos. It's the range of moods a resort day would demand, ranging from a casual lunch on the beach to a more formal meal in the evening. The second Four Seasons property in Greece is this, following the opening of the Four Seasons Athens Astir Palace several years ago and helping to build the brand's reputation in the Greek market.
Let's deal with the number that's in the middle of it all: It's not cheap lodging. Typical room prices today are about $700 per night for the shoulder season and $2,000 per night during July and August, when the summer season is in full swing. The resort is open throughout the tourist season, from early May to mid October, and also follows the same pricing model as other resorts: It adjusts prices to demand, and because Mykonos is a very touristy place, the demand for its resorts is very high during the peak summer months.
What is important here is the fact that although these are high rates in absolute terms, they are certainly not that much higher than what is already charged at the top properties in Mykonos. The availability of luxury goods on the island is very low and prices at independent and boutique luxury hotels are surprisingly close to those of big brands. The Four Seasons is not launching an entirely new price point on the island, it's just entering an existing one.
Most Mykonos alternatives lack the programmatic certainty provided by The Four Seasons: you can expect the same level of service, facilities management, food quality and experience across the board. It is one of the reasons why Four Seasons is able to sell at a premium at each hotel, and one of the reasons why it can be particularly valuable in an independent luxury hotel market that is not necessarily the most consistent.
When it comes time for booking a Four Seasons hotel, shopping on the hotel's website or app is likely a good initial place to start looking for rates, but the experience is not always the most beneficial booking path to take. Available through select travel advisors who are Four Seasons Preferred Partners, they offer a few extra great, complimentary extras to enrich your holidays without impacting the room rate you pay.
They usually come with the following benefits:
The important thing to note: Preferred Partner benefits are typically cumulative with the lowest rate or promotion that is offered directly by Four Seasons at the time of booking, such as an introductory rate, advance purchase discount, or any other rate or promotion offered by the hotel at the time of booking. You do not have to sacrifice a lower rate for better benefits in most cases the combination of both is possible.
The extra advantage to Preferred Partner benefits, especially the complimentary breakfast at a resort that costs $700 to $2,000 a night, really does have meaning for a property at this price. The price of a Four Seasons of this quality to pay for breakfast for two can easily exceed $80 per day, which equates to $400 or $600 worth of captured value that isn't reflected in your room rate comparison.
Some premium travel credit card programs also provide benefits to cardholders on the property at certain Four Seasons properties, and if a cardholder has remaining credits or program benefits, it's worth considering if it is an incremental benefit that outweighs what Preferred Partner offers.
In hindsight the arrival of Four Seasons on Mykonos is truly shocking. The island has long been a popular spot for luxury tourism, but the big hotel chains have certainly not been the main players. The most obvious luxury brand that has a global connection is the Santa Marina, which is one of the properties of the Luxury Collection of the brand Marriott, a single property on an island that receives millions of tourists each year.

The most reputable luxury properties on the island are independent boutique hotels, like Kalesma Mykonos and Deos Mykonos and they stand well for their product quality and intentional guest experience. They're great, but they don't have the programmatic capabilities and service dynamics that big luxury brands offer at scale.
The Four Seasons Resort Mykonos will open on June 26, 2026 and is on sale now. The 94 key property is located in Kalo Livadi Bay, is built in Cycladic style, has an infinity pool, 3 restaurants and a complete spa. The rates vary from about $700 to $2000 per night, depending on when you travel during the May to October season. When you book with a Four Seasons Preferred Partner travel advisor, you'll get a complimentary room upgrade, hotel credit and a complimentary breakfast too! For visitors longing for a top notch luxury accommodation in Mykonos with a big international brand, the wait is over.
