JW Marriott’s First All-Inclusive, Openings, Renovations & Global Expansion

JW Marriott’s First All-Inclusive, Openings, Renovations & Global Expansion

It's never dull in the hotel industry, and that's true here this week. Whether it's a historic landmark being reimagined or Marriott, Hilton and IHG announcing new properties in various continents, everything is going well for travelers and point collectors.

Savannah's Riverfront is Renamed

On West Bay Street in the Historic District, the Bohemian Hotel Savannah Riverfront has come back to life as Hotel Orielle, an Autograph Collection. It's not only a brand change, it is a new rooftop experience, a handpicked selection of local art and a new dining concept. There are two options for a room: a view of the river or a view of the Historic District, and guests can take a breakfast-for-two package to get the day off to a stellar beginning.

The average price of a room starts at approximately $240.Those redeeming the points will pay about 56,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.

Tucson's JW Marriott Wraps Up a Major Renovation

The JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass has undergone a complete top-to-bottom makeover of its enormous, 115,000-square-foot meeting and event floors, which are now styled in a desert aesthetic with a touch of high-tech. The resort now features 38 unique event spaces, such as the 20,000 square foot Tucson's largest ballroom, along with 575 new and updated guest rooms and suites. The nightly rates begin at $320, or 40,000 Bonvoy points.

JW Marriott's First All-Inclusive Hits a Delay

Those looking for JW Marriott to make an entrance into the all-inclusive realm will have to wait in a bit more time. It was initially scheduled to be the first all-inclusive resort from the brand to open this week in Guanacaste, Costa Rica but has been moved to September 30, 2026.

The 415-room JW Marriott Costa Elena will feature a hotel-within-a-hotel idea known as the Griffin Club, large pool facilities and the Spa by JW. Food and beverage choices are no exception either with 11 choices available altogether and a culinary school and a separate root beer stand to show for the brand's origins.

The rates for cash bookings are in the range of $500 per night, Double Occupancy, and begin at 110,000 Bonvoy points per night for award bookings.

Hilton Heads to Florida's Gulf Coast

Hilton has joined the list of properties in the Hilton brand that will then be on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico in Florida, with the Signia Hilton Naples Grande Beach Resort. Rooms are available for booking on Hilton's website, as of now, after January 1, 2027. The resort will have three miles of white-sand beaches, 50 private villas, a luxury spa, several pools and championship-level tennis facilities.

The prices range according to the date but rates of around $1000 per night are fairly standard, with a few lower rates around $700 per night. The starting point for Hilton awards is 95,000 points.

Global Expansion Roundup

If you're planning a trip further out, there are a number of other signings and openings to keep an eye on:

  • Marriott is launching three new hotels in New Zealand's North Island which will be the first for the brand in those locations, including the Rotorua Marriott Hotel (opening in late 2027), Fable Wellington Autograph Collection (2029) and The Official Auckland Autograph Collection (2028).
  • The London Bridge Hotel will be the first hotel in the UK to be part of the Tapestry Collection lifestyle brand, a new project by Hilton that is slated to open in early 2028 after a $16 million revamp.
  • IHG and ALAND have teamed up to open at least 15 properties of their Staybridge Suites chain in Australia, with the first two coming to Sydney Parramatta and Leppington with 130 and 112 rooms respectively.
  • The Residences at InterContinental Sapa Resort in the Muong Hoa Valley, Vietnam, is a project being developed by IHG and Alphanam Group of 79 branded villas that will rank as the highest InterContinental residential project in the world when completed.

Other Notable Developments

After conducting a survey last December that suggested a possible $ 600 yearly fee, Marriott has filed a trademark for “Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Business.” If it's as elaborate as the personal Bonvoy Brilliant card, there should be a slew of high-quality offerings for business travelers.

Meanwhile, The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection has announced the start of bookings for its summer 2028 sailings, which will include 52 voyages on its ships Evrima and Ilma throughout the Mediterranean and Northern Europe region from late April to October, including new ports of call in Gijón, Spain and Portovenere, Italy.

The Bottom Line

There's plenty for travelers to watch in Savannah's new reinterpretation of its riverfront property, Hilton's first venture into all-inclusive resorts, IHG's expansion announcement in three continents, and Marriott's latest expansion. If that's Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Business trademark, business travelers interested in points could be in for a great premium option next year.
