Customers who used Rakuten to apply received Chase Ultimate Rewards and tens of thousands of Amex points at the same time. Nobody ever gave a complete answer to why this occurred but marketers were not grumbling about it.

It was a temporary anomaly that was sensing a glitch in the matrix.

Citi Stumbles Then Makes It Right
