This Amex Special on Hilton Luxury Hotels offers a $250 Discount per Night, for a Limited Time Only

This Amex Special on Hilton Luxury Hotels offers a $250 Discount per Night, for a Limited Time Only

The American Express reward is one that is specific and offers meaningful savings to its cardholders when staying at some of Hilton's most upscale locations in the United States, Mexico and other countries around the world. If you have thought about a paid stay at a Conrad, Waldorf Astoria or LXR property in North or Central America, you can save up to $200 overall (that's up to 20%)!

Targeted is, again, the word of the day, with these offers. It's not a feature that every American Express cardholder will receive and you need to register to use it before you make a purchase. If you are one of the lucky few who qualify, here's all the information you need to take advantage of it.

The True Meaning of the Offer

It works like this: If you stay at one of the participating Waldorf Astoria, Conrad or LXR properties for $1,250 or more in room and room charges, you get a $250 statement credit on your registered American Express card. The offer will be open until November 30, 2026, which provides you with several months of travel to work with.

That $250 back is a 20% discount on a $1,250 qualifying stay, which is quite significant, considering that the purchase was already made. If you're staying at a higher dollar resort and hitting the $250 mark with relative ease, the savings will be the same, no matter how much you spend, and the experience of a luxury beach resort or a Waldorf Astoria property in the city will never be unwelcome.

The geographical extent of the offer includes the Waldorf Astoria, Conrad and LXR establishments in the United States, Mexico, Anguilla and French Polynesia, including some of the truly remarkable properties. Amongst the well respected brands that have gained a reputation amongst luxury resort travelers, two that come to mind immediately are the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal in Mexico and the Zemi Beach House LXR in Anguilla.

Don't skip the Registration Step

If you plan on using any purchase to count towards this offer, you need to add it to your card on American Express. No purchases made prior to registration will count toward the offer, even if made prior to the stay and even if the purchase was made for a lot of money.

Only American Express cards issued by the U.S. are eligible for the offer, and only one card per cardmember is eligible. If you own multiple Amex cards and wish to avail this offer, you need to select the card that you intend to use to pay for the hotel stay upon joining and you cannot switch to another card later on.

Let's quickly go over the essential terms of this offer:

  • No spending limit, but must be $1250 or rooms totaled from a participating property.
  • Allocation of eligible charges: Room rate and room charges only will be eligible. Gift card purchases and non-room expenses will not be eligible.
  • The following rates are not included: Advance purchase rates, Save Now & Pay rates, and non-refundable rates.
  • The $250 credit will be credited to your statement 90 days after December 31, 2026.
  • This is a limited-time offer that will expire on November 30, 2026.

The Properties that are included and those that aren't

The offer is not chain-wide, it is brand specific. Only properties at the Waldorf Astoria, Conrad and LXR properties in eligible destinations qualify. This is a good distinction because Hilton has many other brands, including DoubleTree, Curio Collection, Embassy Suites, Hilton Garden Inn and more, none of which come into play with this one.

The complete property listing can be found in American Express' official offer documentation; be sure to check before you book to ensure that your actual property is listed. The range of properties stretches from the Continental U.S. and Hawaii to Mexico, Anguilla and French Polynesia, and is definitely tilted away from the business hotel market a market that provides a different experience and towards beach resorts and high-end urban properties, which makes sense in the light of the luxury brand focus.

The trick to understanding the wrinkle on foreign currency

If you are traveling to a hotel outside the United States, especially in Mexico or the Caribbean, then there's one aspect of your travel currency that you should consider carefully. The $1250 minimum is based on the amount in U.S. dollars that is posted to your account on American Express after it has been converted from the local currency at the time of the charge.

If the total of your stay is stated in pesos or Eastern Caribbean dollars, and the amount in dollars is just over $1,250 when you make your booking, a change in the exchange rate from booking time to your stay may cause it to drop below the qualifying amount when it is posted at the time of your stay. That's a lose-lose situation.

The practical option: do not just come up with a total that is just a bit over $1,250 in U.S. dollars, but a total that is definitely over. You can find acceptable exchange rate protection if you have a $100 or more cushion above the threshold, and you don't have to spend more than you intended.

Keep in mind: Any advance purchase, Save Now & Pay and non-refundable rate type is not included in the offer. A lot of the luxury end hotels provide these discounted rate classes and they may seem like a good deal when making a booking, but they will not satisfy the Amex Offer credit requirements, even if you meet the spend requirements. If you are considering taking the statement credit, always check before creating a booking.

How to Think About the Value

A $250 statement credit on a $1,250 stay is a good deal, but it's most helpful if the stay was already in the plan. These offers are ideal when they entice you to spend money you are already planning to spend, not to say you need to spend.

Registration is a very quick and easy five minute process before travelers arrive at the hotel and is something that can be done on a honeymoon, anniversary trip or on a business trip at one of the hotel's qualifying properties to get $250 on the bill. This is simple value and no strategy is involved.

If you're not already thinking about staying in a luxurious property, it's a good idea to do your math. At a Conrad or a Waldorf Astoria, you will be able to find a base rate of $1,250 that will give you a good discount especially if the experience and destination are part of your travel plans. It is rare that it pays to stay in a place just to get a "credit".

The Bottom Line

This special American Express offer includes a $250 statement credit for stays at $1,250 or more at Waldorf Astoria, Conrad and LXR properties in the United States, Mexico, Anguilla and French Polynesia, through November 30, 2026. It's one of the simpler luxury hotel specials on Amex Offers and offers the savings rate up to 20% on minimum staying requirements. If the occupancy is priced in a foreign currency, add a currency buffer to the price. Avoid advance purchase and non-refundable rate types and register the offer before the purchase. If you've booked a stay at a qualifying hotel, this is a simple and enjoyable deal to obtain.
