Turkish Airlines has announced its substantial supply of business class award seats on all U.S. to Istanbul flights throughout a long period of time, from the end of 2026 until May 2027. We're talking about true availability from a number of American cities and bookable from as little as 65,000 miles one way in business class (or 40,000 miles one way in economy), which makes one of the world's most recognised aviation products truly accessible without burning through a points balance.
The availability includes Turkish Airlines' direct flights from the U.S. to Istanbul Atatürk International (IST) from the following cities:
The pricing is broken down by program and cabin:
The disadvantage of Miles&Smiles is that you have to pay more to collect the mileage, while United MileagePlus has significantly lower taxes and fees but that's a factor to consider based on your point balances and the value of the mileage.
Well, it's just 65,000 miles away from here and back to see what this award represents. Turkish Airlines is always on the list of the world's best airlines for business class service, as well as onboard dining, and the quality of the product on its newer planes is more than up to scratch.
Turkish's Business class on the Boeing 787-9 and Airbus A350-900s is 1-2-1, which means that each seat has direct access to the aisle without a passenger climbing over the adjacent seat. The seats are laid flat, the meal service is truly world class for a transatlantic flight and the Turkish Airlines lounge in Istanbul one of the largest, most famous airport lounges in the world awaits on the other side of the trip, if you are headed further.
A word of warning about the aircraft: Turkish's older 777-300ER family (rejected) has a 2-3-2 business class configuration, meaning window seats involve stepping over a neighbour and the quality isn't as high as the newer aircraft. A 777-300ER is a fine plane, but if you can be flexible on routing and dates, the 787-9 or A350-900 is worth the trouble to search for. The 777s' cabin refresh is due, but hasn't happened yet.

If you want the lowest mileage rate, you should take Turkish Miles&Smiles. The 65,000 business class miles are the program's standard transatlantic long-haul redemptions and availability is wide open with seats available in multiple cities in the U.S. right now, so the only problem is getting enough miles.
Miles&Smiles' transfer partners are pretty decently accessible for most points collectors, including Bilt Rewards, Capital One miles, Citi ThankYou Rewards, Rove Miles and Marriott Bonvoy. Most of those who can collect points have a way to fund the award with Miles&Smiles transfer partners, including Bilt Rewards, Capital One miles, Citi ThankYou Rewards, Rove Miles and Marriott Bonvoy. Also getting miles directly on everyday spending, however, transferring from an existing points currency will be quicker for most U.S. based travelers, is the co-branded Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles Premier Visa Signature card.
The availability of awards at this level several awards on each route and on each route over an 8-month period is best sought through their own tools. Unlike an airline's native booking engine where you had to check one date at a time, you can search various date and city combinations at once on both Seats.aero and Roame. Both will display the availability of seats and will bring up the specific dates and routes available for bookings.
After you've narrowed your search to a certain date, aircraft type, etc., you've set the award. In some instances, the program's availability or booking issues that might be identified by calling the service line of Miles&Smiles are not neatly illustrated when using the online tool.
If you're travelling beyond the borders of Türkiye, Istanbul is one of the more strategically useful crossing points in the world, geographically connecting Europe and Asia. Turkish Airlines' route network is unusually extensive from Istanbul, with almost every direction in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa that is hard or costly to reach from the U.S. by other airlines.
If your flight includes a connection outside of Istanbul, the Turkish lounge at IST, which is regarded as one of the best airport lounges in the world, can make even a lengthy layover a fun experience! You'll often be given access to lounge during the connection at Istanbul when you book business class on Miles&Smiles or MileagePlus, something that could be a significant value to consider when choosing your award.

This wide availability of awards, from multiple business class seats in seven U.S. cities, over an eight month window, at 65,000 miles to book, is the sort of award that point collectors book-mark and act on promptly. The Turkish Airlines' business class service on its newer fleet is really good, its Istanbul lounge is a place in itself, and the onward service from Istanbul is a very valuable option for travellers who need to continue beyond Türkiye.
Miles&Smiles offers the best mileage, at 65,000 miles, but MileagePlus offers many more points for much fewer fees (which depends on your balances and priorities). In either case, the seat is an excellent product.
This one will come in very handy soon. A top international destination with wide-open business class award dates for an extended period is rare, and the travel window from May 2027 offers generous flexibility to accommodate travel plans, not to tie them down to whatever travel space is left when the masses show up.
